Many people know Gustav Stickley only for his furniture designs, yet in the early 1900s, we was a leader in the Arts & Crafts Movement, publishing a magazine called "The Craftsman" from 1901 to 1916.The Craftsman style house, or Bungalow was one of the most popular forms of dwelling  built in the United States between 1900 and 1930.

A large portion of the magazine was devoted to home designs, and Stickley hired many talented architects of the day to produce designs for his magazine. This led to the creation of his own architectural and building firm.

My research led me to study Stickley's designs in "The Craftsman", as well as his original architectural drawings which are preserved at Columbia University's Avery Architecture Library.

The drawings and text in "Shop Drawings for Craftsman Interiors" are based on these original sources, and my own experience as a custom cabinetmaker and draftsman in the architectural millwork industry.

If you are renovating a Bungalow or designing a new home or addition with period details, the drawings and text in this book will be an invaluable resource. Period details are shown and explained, as well as methods and materials in common use today to create the look and feel of the period.

There is no home more charming and livable than a Craftsman Bungalow, and this is the first and only comprehensive book of shop drawings for woodworkers, carpenters, decorators, and homeowners who wish to create or renovate interiors in the Craftsman style.
